The absolute best time to be in Sioux Falls is in the summer, and August is peak summertime here. It happens far too often that we mean to get out and enjoy this spectacular season in our lovely city, and before we know it, the summer is almost gone, Labor Day is approaching, and we still haven’t taken advantage of our landscape and local businesses. If this experience sounds familiar, and you’re trying to figure out how to squeeze the most out of these last days of summer before school starts and the busy fall season kicks in, Tyler Goff Group has a list of summer activities to check out while you still can.

What to Do in Sioux Falls this Summer

Eastbank Block Party

August 4

5:30pm to 11pm

Once a month, at the 8th and Railroad Center, the people of Sioux Falls gather as a community, enjoy drinks and food from food trucks, play yard games with the kids, wander retail shops, and stroll the boardwalk with friends and family. You’ll even get treated to live music by multiple bands. The fun starts at 5:30pm and runs until 11PM. Get out and hang with your neighbors with a cool drink in your hand on a hot August night in Sioux Falls.

Falls Park Farmers Market

Every Saturday

8am to 1pm

Nothing says summer in Sioux Falls like the Falls Park Farmers Market. Every Saturday from 8am to 1PM, local vendors display fresh wares for the community at Falls Park. You can grab a coffee downtown and wander the stalls, enjoy the scenery, and likely run into friends. The Farmers Market is one of those things we all mean to get to and then forget to get to! Enjoy the lovely weather while you can, and buy yourself some fresh produce, flowers, and more while you’re at it. And if you see us down there, don’t forget to say hi!

Tailgating Festival

Great Bear Recreation Park

August 11

5:30pm to 8:30pm

A wonderful way to take full advantage of the summer with your whole family is to head out to Great Bear Recreation Park and join the Parks and Rec department for yard games, bouncy obstacle courses, and nature crafts. Local food trucks will be there, you can make s’mores at the campfire, and you can even enter a bean bag tournament.
